Ed Devlin

Ed is the founder and CEO of Devlin Capital. He oversees the process to identify global opportunities and will be responsible for each strategy’s performance.

Ed’s most recent role was as a managing director, lead portfolio manager for US Total Return portfolios and head of Canadian portfolio management after almost 15 years at PIMCO. Ed co-founded PIMCO Canada and led the business to raise over C$50 billion from Canadian clients. From 2009-2014, Ed was based in London and responsible for all sterling and euro denominated Liability Driven Investing (LDI) portfolios, he was a permanent member of the European portfolio committee that oversaw $500 billion in assets. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2006, he worked in London, Tokyo, Toronto, Hong Kong and New York in progressively more senior fixed income positions at Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch.

He is a Senior Fellow at the C.D. Howe Institute.

Mark Dickerson

PARTNER & GENERAL COUNSEL

BA (Honors) in Economics from Queen’s University (Kingston).

L.L.B/J.D. from University of Toronto.

Member of Law Society of Ontario.  Former member of Law Society of England.

Mark serves as Devlin Capital’s Chief Legal Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. He offers legal guidance on the firm’s structured finance ventures and its daily operations.

Mark’s most recent role was as the general counsel for Bank of America and Merrill Lynch Canada’s Canadian operations.  Both are the largest foreign owned bank & broker dealer businesses in Canada. Mark retired in August 2021, after 22 years with the firm and 30 years in the industry.

Prior to joining Merrill Lynch Canada in 1999, Mark’s experiences included working for Freshfields in London, England and Nomura Securities’ London affiliate, focusing on structured derivatives and capital market transactions.

Anders Forssell

PARTNER

MSc. in Electrical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL).

Anders is the Chief Investment Officer at Devlin Capital, overseeing structured finance opportunities and directly managing portfolios.

Anders most recent role was at Merrill Lynch Canada as a managing director, head of residential mortgages and options trading when he retired in September 2017, after 15 years with the firm. Both businesses were the largest in Canada at the time. 

Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Anders was head of derivatives at National Bank Financial in Montreal and a senior derivatives dealer at Gulf International Bank in London, England.

Bob Nobrega

BSc Hons from Carleton University.

Bob serves as Devlin Capital’s Chief Operations Officer, responsible for firmwide financing opportunities.

Over Bob’s 35 years of financial experience he has held roles as Global Head of Securities Finance and Prime Brokerage for RBC Capital Markets, Co-Head of Fixed Income at Bank of America-Merrill Lynch Canada and Head of Treasury for Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. He previously served as chair of the IIAC’s Repurchase and Securities Lending Committee and as a board member for the Investment Industry Association of Canada. Since 2018, Bob has been involved in MBS and sustainable finance opportunities before joining Devlin Capital.

Rich Ballew

PARTNER

Bachelor’s of Science degree from Cornell University.

MBA from the Wharton School, and an MA from the School of Arts & Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania where he was also a Lauder Fellow.

Rich is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer at Devlin Capital. He is directly engaged in portfolio management and is also responsible for opportunities relating to temporal diversification.

Rich was a portfolio manager for the past 13 years focused on global derivative markets. He was the director of portfolio management for a billion-dollar RIA. For the 7 years prior, Rich managed roughly $4 billion for ultra-wealthy clients in Merrill Lynch’s Private Banking & Investment Group.

Prior to that, Rich was an institutional bond trader in Merrill Lynch’s global markets group, working in NY, London, Paris, Tokyo and Sydney trading interest rate swaps, bank capital, government and corporate bonds.

He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)  and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designations.
